I know that it's extremely obvious but I knew it, so figured people my age did in general. We're 20.

This is a legend only. The truth is that over 40 years ago a young Julian Lennon did a drawing which inspired the song. Everybody thinks it was inspired by drugs but is simply was not. Go google search it and see for yourself.

Note: I noticed thumbs down were given to us that said it wasn't. I am 53 and probably know a little more about the The Beatles than most. If you want to believe it was LSD, then go right ahead and believe what you will and as I said, google it and see.

John Lennon had reported in the different case in an interview with a reporter. He had reported his son presented homestead a photo of a woman contained in the sky with diamonds and her call develop into Lucy. he wrote the music excellent after he talked concerning the photo. In a 2004 interview, although, Paul McCartney spoke brazenly about his Beatles-era drug use, revealing that songs alongside with "Day Tripper" and "were given To Get You Into My life" were written right away about LSD and marijuana

You are right, it has been common knowlege for years. But common knowledge is not always correct. If in fact there is a hidden meaning here, only the author knows. And I belive that he denied it when the first accusation was made shortly after the song was released. (And so what if it did.)

I knew that back when the song first came out. It was common knowledge then. Maybe not today.

My momma made sure that I grew up with the Beatles so I knew that but some people don't even know who they are or what songs are theirs. Sad but true :(

That was a rumor that is untrue. The Beatles did say the idea came from a picture John Lennon's son ,Julian, drew when he was a young boy. You have been misinformed.

I did not know that. Here's an even better question; Why should I, or anyone else, care that it's about LSD? Is the world going to implode on itself??
