You are better off getting a new one. There are seals inside also and it is a sealed unit. Start with a new one and it will give you years of service.

only if you stop it first. The rewind is very slow if you just press rewind. Usually the rewind will pick up speed as it goes. I like to stop it before it is totally rewound so I don't get that big recoil hit when it gets to the beginning.
