It is quite possibly an STD, which she needs to get checked. Some STDs can cause infertility if untreated, or other permanent problems.
Without insurance, she should at least go to a clinic for a pelvic exam (perhaps Planned Parenthood) and get that checked out. Hopefully it is something that can be easily treated.
Good luck!

Could be an STD. But it could be just a sebaceous cyst (not very serious). This can be caused from an inflamed oil duct or an ingrown hair etc... like the others said, though, go to Planned Parenthood or some other free or sliding fee scale clinics and have it looked at.

Even though she doesn't have insurance, there are clinics that will see her at very reduced rates, Planned Parenthood is one that will accept sliding scale fees based on income. She NEEDS to get it checked out, as it sounds like she has an STD.
Even if she can't find a cheaper clinic, she still needs to see a doctor, as untreated STD's can have disastrous effects if left untreated.

Tell your friend to go immediately to Planned Parenthood. This could lead to a very serious infection and she MUST get it looked at. She doesn't need insurance and there's a good chance the visit will be free.

Get her to a Dr.
If the boil is a staph infection it can burst & spread to the rest of the body. It's very serious. Only huge doses of antibiodics will get rid of it, and it that doesn't work the Dr will lance it.

There are many reasons, some already mentioned.
It could be caused by sweat glands/dirt. It's better to be safe than sorry. Planned Parenthood is her best option or local state health clinics.

It can be quite simple - co-amoxiclav will treat this quickly. However if you catch them when very small - pin-prick - use 'fucidin cream' - on prescription - they will not develop!!! Also check you are not diabetic, cos i was diagnosed after I kept getting these. Do not have to be a problem. good luck!

yes...have her go to www.pcos.org, forums and look for the link for HS...(it's called something spirivia, I think...I can't remember now...but I've read about it and seen it...men get it too.) It's pretty common, but no one talks about it.
