We as people respect nurses and midwives, but the government don't. This is reflected in the ruin of the NHS, poor pay and payrises, long hours and they have to fight for their pensions. Lastly, there have been job losses despite years at university.

My wife and I have had 5 children 3 at the hospital and 2 at home. the hospital births were all beautiful but the doctors wanted to be gone asap. the home births were a much better experience. no one was in a hurry, my wife was much more comfortable, and our midwives were awsome. I respect our midwives much more then the doctors. the doctor showed up a minute before, said push, heres your baby and i gotta go to my golf game. oh ya, here is my bill. what a joke.

Nurses are if they're RN with 4 year degrees, rather than those types with six month degrees in sheet changing.
Midwives aren't most likely because the definition is so loose it lets to many nuts claim to be midwives. Kind of like being a therapist instead of a psychologist.

I would like to think that Our ability is respected rather than just Our Professional status.
