I know this is not advisable, but why should both go on being unhappy when there's a chance they could do something about it?

Theres no reason at all for both to be unhappy and still go on with their marriage/s.Thats why its a good idea to pursue someone else after divorce & do "something" about it:)That way there'd be a chance of happily ever after.
The other scenario where u cant leave your respective spouses for one reason or another, demands counseling. Many marriages have been salvaged through that. Though i must agree that an equal no. dont work out even after counseling, but its worth a try. Marriage is sacred & shouldn't be taken lightly.

Like I always believe there aint no such thing as the one... although it is inadvisable, ones happiness is just as important. Whatever it is there are and will be chances to attain happiness. We make mistakes, we learn from them, we try to fix it whether to salvage the current marriage or move on ...but at the end we be a better person for the good or for the worst in our life. Problems are inevitable especially being married but don't push yourself to more pain if it doesn't seem to work. Thats never is a crime.

both of u go to marriage counseling and communicate I would just move out forawhile try to have time to think sort out things and figure out what and who u want and have separation for now and feel it out with other person. and once u feel it out forawhile U are gonna need and have to make a decision and stick to it And bad thing is someone will get hurt either way but make sure whomever u dont choise to be with to try to be on good terms and remain good friends

If and only they are willing to have their marriages end. Why not both request divorces from the respective spouses?

as long as you have tried your best to make it work but nothing has changed. go for it, remember nothing that you do is in or was in your hands, it was meant to be that way, yes for we live by faith and destiny is no sorrow for happiness is and only shall be the sunlight we all see tommorrow. LIFE! that is what matters.

If both are unhappy, then they should do something about their marriages or split upwith their respective spouses before they get together. why do you want to hurt your spouse?

Close the door before you open another one, If your really not happy with your wife do what you got to do to move on for yourself and for her too. if the other woman loves trully loves you she would do the same.
