you could use a sump pump like the kind that prevent basement flooding. you can rent them from equipment rental stores.

I use the hose for the vacuum. Just as the hose slips onto the brush-vacuum head, it should slip onto the backwash port. If your hose and the backwash port are the same size, get the next size up hose. the hose should slip up onto the port pipe. IT IS NOT A PRESSURE SECURE FIT, you have to hold the hose onto the port while backwashing. It should be so hard.....you pump must be mighty! (I don't know if a hose clamp would help you.....try it but don't crack the backwash port )

Flat blue hose. That's what it's designed for.
