When the ISS (International Space Station) is completed what sort of things will it be capable of doing?

The ISS is intended to do scientific research-in a variety of areas. It is also designed to provide a platform for applications rresearch hopefully leading to orbital manufacturing of new products including pharmaceuticals, eletronics, biotechnology, and materiaels technology.

If they get a chance to do the work. Right now, following Bush's Presidential directive last year, the ISS is limited to research for a possible Mars mission in 50 years or so. And military research focusing on anti-terrorism. NASA is now prohibited from funding the research the ISS was designed to do.
