How do you know the O2 sensor is defective ? If idle is bad it will cause an O2 sensor code to set. Idle problems are usually caused by iac (idle air control) valve. It is located on the throttle body along with the tps (throttle position sensor) Never assume a part needs replaced because of a trouble code. Find the problem

yes i took my car to the dealership for another problem and they fixed what was wrong and told me i might want to bring it back at a later date so they could change my o2 sensor

Without a doubt you can. As long as your trucks not pinging "pre-ignition". Your going to be ok.
