I was at every home playoff game last year for Buffalo. Half of the state lived and died with that team. This year, I was at every home game until I was deployed to the Middle East in late January. We lose sleep to stay up and watch hockey. I should be back in time for the Cup finals and I've been counting on the Sabres being there all season.

No other city needs this more than Buffalo. After 4 Superbowl losses in a row, Brett Hull's no goal in '99 and being up one goal in game 7 of the Conference Finals to start the third period last year, we need to break that "oh poor me," stigma. It means everything.

GO SABRES!

I spend the better part of a year watching my teams play. Strange a phenomenon as it is, over the season(s) you grow to really like and care about the guys on your team and you want to see them win the Cup. It's not really at all about the city or even the team winning as much as it is about wanting to see these guys you watch every few nights for eight months achieve the very thing they want most and work so hard to try and do - winning sixteen playoff games and raising the Stanley Cup. I would be so thrilled to see all the guys on the Sharks get to kiss and skate around with the Cup in a month or so.

I don't quite understand the fans who are all about a particular country or city winning. It's all about the guys on the team for me. Even when a team I don't particularly care for wins, it's a really special moment to watch. I love watching that final game and seeing a team win. It's great. Sure I love my Sharks and Leafs but at the end of the day I'm just a hockey fan and, as such, I know what that Cup means to all the guys on every team in the league and it's just great to see a group of guys so totally and absolutely happy when they win.

The Flyers Cup's in '74/'75 were the first time one of my favorite teams won a championship so it will always have a special place in my heart. As for Philly, it's a hockey crazy town but unfortunately the fans that actually go to the games at the Wachovia Center are nothing like the Spectrum days. Man, I really miss the Broad Street Bullies. Oh, did I mention that the Flyers were probably the first and only true world Champion when theu punked the once feared Soviet Red Army team?

Sadly, as I live in Phoenix, the Stanley Cup and the brutal grind that is the playoffs is a thing understood by far too few here. As for me, the Stanley Cup is the grail and I would, of course, love to see the Coyotes win it. Actually, I'd be thrilled to death even if they just made the playoffs.

I am a NY Rangers fan. Until the Rangers won the cup in 1994, all they heard from their rivals was "1940, 1940!". That was the last year that the Rangers had won the cup. 1994 and Mark Messier lifted a huge monkey off the Rangers' back. The ticker tape parade in New York City was a very big affair. I still wear my 1994 Rangers Stanley Cup baseball cup. I need a new hat. One that says 2007 Stanley Cup Champions will do fine.

The Stanley Cup is the ultimate reward for a hockey team and its city. It is a symbol of a season of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the game. For many fans of the Red Wings, my hometown team, anything less than bringing the Cup to Hockeytown is intolerable and seen as a failure of a season, especially when they contend for the President's Trophy and have a first- or second-round playoff exit each year.

living in Calgary with hockey crazed fans, during the 2004 cup run it gave the whole city unbelievable excitement and pride. It brought the city closer together with everyone becoming genuinely nicer and more giving.More people gave to charity and helped people less fortunate. We also have that intense rivalry with the oilers as to who the best city is in the province.

to be honest. I dont give a crap about hockey until Playoff time. But once the dallas stars get into the playoffs, ill definately watch the games. But the stars are definately not the best team so i know they wont win. Hockey hasnt mattered since they won the Cup a few years ago.
