when I look in the mirror, I like what I see, but when I take pictures of myself, I look fat and ugly. What is happening?

it's all about if you're photogenic or not. some people look great in person/in the mirror & horrible in pictures. some look horrible in person/in the mirror, but great in pictures. it's all a little wierd. if you do wanna take pictures, pick a good place, good lighting, and a good side of you.

The same thing happens to me. I am not photogenic at all. If you want to see how other people see you just tilt that medicine cabinet mirror a little and you will see yourself like other people see you in your large mirror next to it. Sounds confusing, but trust me it works.

This is called the "mere exposure effect."

The face we see in the mirror is not the same as the one our friends see. Most of us prefer the familiar mirror image, while our friends like the reverse.
