I think I understand Blue Cat the best, but I am not sure I can remember it yet.

Fans are those who have chosen you to be a fan and contact is the ones that you have chosen.
Does that make sense?

Contacts are people that you have made a contact, and fans are people who have you as a fan. They can add you as a contact or as a fan.

Someone you have in your contacts means you are a fan of them. And if they have you in their contacts, they are a fan of you.
