The real solution to gas prices is to:
1. Demand that automakers build more fuel effecient cars. Americans need to get out of their SUVs and into fuel effecient vehicles. If Americans stopped driving SUVs we could cut the nation of Saudi Arabia out of our economy entirely. SUVs use up about 12% of the oil used in the United States, the same amount imported from Saudi Arabia.
2. Demand improvements to mass transit. More people need to be using buses, trains, subways, and light rails for day to day transit and leave the car at home.
3. Live closer to where you work so you can replace yourgas guzzler with an electric vehicle such as the no longer produced but much loved and much lamented GM EV-1.

What? The gov. does control them already. They could be ridiculously high at 9 bucks a gallon if they didn't.
If the gov. fixed it it'd ruin our economy by flooding the supply of cheap oil well above demand. You can't just take certain parts of the market and mess with them and hope everything else will stay ok.
Revolting out against the gov. won't help. If youw ant something done, help us win the war agianst Iraq, which will make it easier for oil to come out of there, making it cheaper. If we lose this war, then oil will shoot up in price.

I am so with you. Personally, I am driving my car (which gets 50 miles to the gallon) only to work. I shop on my way home. After that, I don't go anywhere that I can't get to on a horse, bike, or walk. I am not giving those selfish, already rich, oil b*stards any more of my money than I have to.

HIGH GAS PRICES? WE SHOULD USE MORE PUBLIC TRANSPORT, WALK ON THE GOD GIVEN GIFT OF TWO LEGS, CAR POOL AND NO HOUSE HOLD SHOULD HAVE MORE THAN ONE CAR. WHY DO WE NEED ONE FOR EVERYONE AT HOME ? AND WHY A SUV IF THERE ARE ONLY FOUR IN A FAMILY?
ONCE WE OURSELVES STOP BEING GREEDY TO NO END, THIS PROBLEM WILL SOLVE ITSELF. DON'T ' WE ' MAKE THE ' GOVERNMENT ' ?

Are we a communist country now? Is it up to us to dictate to another how much money they can make? Anyway your anger is a bit misdirected. Taxes account for more of what you pay at the pump than oil company profits.
