I missed 4 birth control pills at the beginning of my month/pack and decided to wait until my period started to start a new pack. It has been 3 weeks and my period still hasn't started. I started the pill because of cramps and got a cyst my first month on the pill. I am not nor have I ever been sexually active (I am 18). Lately I have been getting really bad lower abdominal pains (but they come and go) (I get them no more than once a day). Am I just overreacting or could this be something serious?

Hey congratualations on remaining a virgin. That is Awsome!!!! Answer to your question. It sounds like your hormones are totally out of control. When you miss a few day hormone levels drop and since you waited to start a new pack your body doesn't understand what is going on. You should take your pills everyday around the same time. As far as the abdominal pain, it could be due to the pills but, a couple of questions. Are the pains different than the cramps? Have you ever been to the GYN doctor?

There is a chance she could be pregnant. You don't need to penetrate to start a pregnancy. Having semen on your fingers while rubbing her vagina can make pregnancy happen. The chances are somewhat small, but it is a possibility. It isn't unusual for any female to have irregular periods—teen or otherwise. The question is: Have her periods been regular before this fooling around happened? If so, I'd go for the pregnancy test if I were you…if only to put your minds at ease or to prepare you for what's to come. Symptoms don't show the same for everyone. I personally never had "morning sickness" for either of my pregnancies. She's only 4 days late, which isn't much, but if this is really unusual for her, get the test, if she's willing to take it (it's kinda hard to *make* someone pee on a stick or into a cup!). If it's positive, follow up with a doctor to do a blood test to confirm it. False positives happen, though they're not very common. If it's negative and she still doesn't get her period for several days, consider taking another test (different brand, maybe) or doing the blood test. Good luck and I hope she gets her period…having a baby so young can be challenging, though it's not a life-stopper if you don't want it to be!

For years I would run and bike everyday run 3 miles and on the other days I would bike 10 to 15 miles I went months without having a period All my work outs would keep me unbalanced and when I did have a period it was short fast but I did flow heavy for a day.
What I did was check in with a Doctor a full exam I was worried also Scared was a better way of putting it Now I am older and can get a work out better than overworking my body all is allot better

See what happens at the end of your next round of pills and if you still don't have a period, I would call and talk to my doctor if I were you. Your cramps could be because of your cyst. If you haven't been on the pill very long, your body could just be adjusting. Sometimes it sucks being a woman, but then again I sure as heck wouldn't want to be a man! I'll take cramps, childbirth, whatever in lieu of testosterone poisoning!

Take a pregnancy test and if it comes up positive you have another cyst. I knew a girl who broke up with her boyfriend then a week later took a pregnancy test. Told him she was pregnant, then went to the doctor and found out that she wasn't and that it was just a cyst. Of course go to the doctor

yeah- no twerp on yahoo answers has any better answer than go to the doctor- but don't do the 911 ER thing- that would be stupid. but do keep a record of what's happening, how often, try to have some information about your condition when the doc asks you question- the doc's office is not the place to try to rack your brain for the last day of your last period that sorta thing.

I'd let the doctor check that out.
I had a huge cyst in mny left ovary and they had to take the whole ovary.
I didn't have my period for 5months after I had it removed.
So yeah.
I'd say check w/ your doc.

I think after stoping the pill it takes awhile for your body clock to reset and behave normally

Your period is not due for another couple of days and it is probably premenstrual cramps.

you should have started taking the pills, this could screw up your whole cycle. plus it takes three months for the pill to take its whole effect.
