Not sure about egg-shells but coffee grinds? - No! Also no starchy stuff like rice, pasta down that. Over time they cause serious clogs that has to be the roto-routed at 100+$ cost. Grease is also a No. Best thing to do is to periodically dump some baking soda and run hot water through it. Vinegar also helps.

The coffee grinds help break down the nutrients of the soil, and the egg shells have a lots of minerals. The thing to be careful about egg shells though, is that they can attract rats and raccoons.

Coffee grounds are acid and raise the pH...while the egg shells are akaline and lower the pH. The idea is that the two combined will create a neutral enviroment that can support almost anything you plant.
I would either compost - out of sight - or use good 'old fashioned store bought' fertilizer.
Hope this helps.

Coffee is a natural product which turns in a very good fertilizer and egg shell are full of calcium. You can save both of the up and grind them in a powder and used it in your garden.

Grinds are to break up the soil but they soak up nitrogen..be judicious. Egg shells are just calcium and should be crushed well. They look bad to me and I quit using them. Onion and garlic skins help keep pests away.
A lot of this is really kind of trashy. Get some cheap potting soil, enjoy the fresh look and forget the garbage!!! LOL

Crushed baked egg shells are used to keep slugs away from plants.
I've never heard of coffee grinds being used.
(although tea leaves are good for roses)

I'm pretty sure snails and stuff get jacked up when they try to cross over the egg shells. It repels them.

Coffee ground are acidic to be added to alkaline soil. (particularly good for pine trees). It also breaks up the soil.
Egg shells are calcium, that adds nutrients.
You can add most of your kitchen scraps for organic mulch.
(no milk or meats).
You can add coffee, sodas, beer for nutrients as well.
