I would smile and act like it doesn't bother me. People like that use insults and rudeness to get attention but if you don't react then their tries weren't successful and eventually they'll give up. Or make a joke out of it bringing it back on them, so they have nothing to come back with, like sarcasm for example or something along those lines. But i have found that being nice no matter how much work it takes has proved to be the most successful. Not pushed around, just nice. Or in the worst case just walk away, you don't need people like that around u.

The most important thing you must understand is that words and statements are only insults if you accept them as such. A person cannot insult you without your acceptance of the insult. You have the power to take the most offensive statements directed at you and decide whether or not to be offended. You can just as easily acknowledge the person attempting to insult you, and tell them their attempt failed and that you do not accept the insult. In short, if some on calls you a name, or makes an allegation that is unflattering about you, simply refuse to allow their words any power over you. The power in an insult, like someone giving you the bird, is in how you react to it. React positively to another's negative behavior and you will turn the tables on them, makeing their negativity boomerang back at them.

I deal with a variety of rude people all day. I work for the public. Anyway, I know it is hard for me sometimes to always bite my tongue, and I will be honest, I do not always bite it either. Right or wrong, I have a hard time allowing people to treat me bad. Especially if they try to insult me in front of a lot of other people. That can get my temper up good. Anyway, I know simply walking away before I react always works, but sometimes I forget!!!

I work in a department store, so I get my fair share of rude customers. The best advice I can give you is just let it roll of your shoulders. Have you ever heard the saying 'Kill someone with kindness'? If they are bothering you then they are getting what they want, for you to feel miserable. Be nice smile and don't let their rudeness ruin your day! =)

Yes , but what fun would that be ?
Of course , there are times when maybe the parents are around and civility is required . . .
But calmly taking jerks out - at - the - knee verbally is almost as good as chocolate !

If they're rude to you, what's the point? They're not just going to decide to be nice.
