I let my girlfriend borrow my car for the weekend. When she returned it, I realized she had been smoking inside...a lot! Now my car reeks of cigarette smoke. Plus, she didn't use the ashtray and just flicked the ashes all over the seats and carpets. How can I get rid of both the smell and the burn marks?

The smoke leaves a film all over the car; you'll need to wash the windows and plastics with some glass cleaner. Also, you'll need to wash the upholstery. Finally, you can use some Frebreeze to finish off the smell. You're stuck w/ the burn marks.

You can also use Vinegar (if you can stand it's odor).

Your girlfriend is extremely direspectful of your property, and your property is an extention of you. ( I can imagine that her and her friends were just having a good ole time, smokin away in your car.) More than likley this disrespect of her's is appearent in other parts of the relationship. I'd reevaluate the relationship if I was you.

I took note that you said you let her borrow your car. Ask yourself this: Is she always taking and borrowing things or taking from you? If yes, then you probably don't have her respect! It's time to dump her b/c she only dating you for what she can get from you.

I've seen this a million times. Women don't respect men who are bending over backwards for them. Why? Because women view givers as weak, boring, only giving to get some sex, and/or to just have a GF. If you do break-up with her sooner or later, I'd take a break from dating and do some research on what it takes to be successful in ATTRACTING the right women, and keeping your relationship w/ her happy and respectful. There are some good ebooks online that can give you some real help with this.

There are also eBooks that help women find the right guy and help them with the relationship.

Burn marks are just about imposible to get ride of. You almost have the have the seat completely redone. As far as the smell and ash you can vacuum the ash out. just takes time. The smell I would use fabreez on it to start. If that does not work there is some automotive deoterizer that you can pick up at the autoparts store. Your other option would be to have the GF pay for a complete detail. For a high quaility detail it will be around 150 to 200 bucks. That'll teach 'er

There are products made specifically for that. One is called fridgy fresh I think. Most auto parts stores sell that or some variation. The smoke has gone thru your heat/ac system and attached itself and there it will stay and stench thru the vents til its removed. You may have to repeat the fridgy fresh process a few times to remove it all. Your girlfriend is a lazy sloppin hog.
Imagine what your house is gonna look like if you marry her. There are also kits made for burn marks sold in auto parts stores although I dont know how well they work. Leave your girlfriend and let her go back to grazing in the trailer park dude.

Man, that's just wrong! the previous suggestions for cleaning and deodorizing are good ones, but you want to be sure to clean all of the windows with a good glass cleaner, because cigarette smoke leaves an oily residue on glass, and gives off odor too!
If the girlfriend is going to smoke up your car, what else might she do? Good luck!

Clean the interior and use something like OUST to get rid of the smell. The burn marks are going to be tough.

Get rid of the girl friend. If that is the respect she shows you now, how do you think it will be years down the road??

You tried to be a nice guy and she walked all over you, dump her. good luck

She sounds great! You can't get rid of the burn marks. Since it was just a weekend you can probably get rid of the smell by vacuuming well and spraying everything with Febreeze type stuff. Maybe you have to lay down the law with your girlfriend. Or get rid of her.

Go and get your car detailed on the inside AND out, and give her the bill, and if there is any permanent burns, she should pay for the reupholstery and carpets too, Good Luck and sorry about the girl, sounds like you should be single

you can't let your girlfriend take advantage of you like that, and burn marks are permanent. you either have to set her straight in your standards, or get a new girlfriend. you will need lots of airfreshner to take away the smell and let the car air out with the windows or doors open, but unless the burn marks are permanent, you i don't know what to tell ya.
