Nope. My son is named Milo and if this baby is a girl we want to name her Lola. I get a lot of crap from people saying that those names are weird and that my children are sure to be picked on, but we love those names and that's all that matters. I'm not one to knock anyones choice in names, but I wish people would understand that names like Hayley and Aiden just aren't my taste. Not to say those are bad names, they are nice...... But just not my style :)

Every era has its' notable fads and trends. What goes around, comes around! Pretty soon we'll all be bored with Tiara and Jayzee, that Darryl and Donna will be making a come back! I care not what others around me are doing! If they want to spell their kids' names that look like they don't know how to spell, so be it. The kid can always change it later! But this over-the-top trend right now is getting a little ridiculous! I think too many parents are just finding a name to be unique for the sake of being unique, and they're forgetting if the kid will like it too or might get teased or made fun of, because of it. I don't know. I'm on your side. Let's keep the names true, honest, beautiful, strong and pronounceable!

You know, I think it's kind of a cycle. I think people who, like me, were named "Sarah" when Sarah exploded into popularity, are now at an age (well have been for 10 years lol) where we are having children, and we might be more inclined to choose something more original. And so, then, our children with trendi-er, newer names, will probably grow to choose a more traditional name, and the cycle will then start over.
I find myself personally not attracted more or less to trendy names. For me it's all about the name and not whether it's popular, old-fashioned, or unique.

I've noticed too and i really don't like all these new, unique, trendy names. I think most of them are aweful. The old names are much better. I mean, i think some of the new trendy names can be cute for a baby, but they're terrible for adults. People seem to forget when picking a name that they aren't just naming a baby, they are naming a person who will one day be a teenager, adult, and elderly person. I think when people choose names they think only of a tiny baby and not of a person. And when they hear an older, traditional name they think of what it sounds like on a baby and immediatly dislike it, forgetting that the baby won't stay a baby for very long. But thats just my theory.
Personally, as i have already mentioned, i like more traditional names. My fiance and I like names like Katrina, Olivia and Sophia for girls, and Lucas, Noah and Micah for boys. My nieces and nephews also have traditional names (Jacob, Ethan, Ava, and Danielle) and i LOVE them!
And I am also glad that my mom gave my sister and i nice normal traditional names as well (Joanna, Kathleen). Normal names are definatly good names.

I don't think it's possible not to notice. I still like a few classic names like Michael, Daniel, Eric. Elizabeth, Anne, Jane.
But i also like the 'newer' names like: Shiloh, Sam, Elle.
As long as they are spelled the right way and have some style to them, i like them. I find they give personality and character to new people in the world something "old" names can often lack. And if the names were always the exact same, i think it would be boring and repetitive. But that's also why ''old'' names will still be cool to have in the middle of so much trend.
I like all kinds of names, don't mind if it's treny or not.

I cannot stand the distorted names I have seen recently, why spoil a good name by changing C to K, adding countless Y's and Z's, I also think random words used as names like "holden" are weird. i don't like the really boring common names, but I do believe that a child has to live with the name, it's all well and good for a parent to say "We wanted something different" but they don't have to live with it, they are not the ones who face torment at school, i like old names that are not so common, like Jemima or Noelle, I don't see the need to saddle a child with an odd name just because the parents want something "different"

If I have little boys I want to name them Henry and George. I think they are considered old names nowadays, and when I tell people this they just laugh a little. I think the classic names are fading out, but that's also what will make them more unique. I mean who wants a common name anyway?

Ha Ha...yeah I know what you are talking about. Some people just like names that are different and unique and not a name that has been used for a while. I think i am going to name my kids with old names too.

no a lot of older names have come back in fashion
there are a lot of emma's, sarah's, emily's, and the like being born right now. also a lot of Jacob's, Calebs, and Noahs.
i have chosen the names Amy, Lesley, or Holly for a girl
Wesley is what I'd like to name mine if I have a boy.
I personally am not into the so called "unique names" right now because they are hard to pronounce and spell.
