I have been shaving with a razor over the past four days (as opposed to using a trimmer which is not a s effective at hair removal). The problem is that I ended up getting hideous shaving pimples, despite having used Old Spice aftershave.
1)How do I rid myself of the shaving pimples,
2)How can I use the razor in the future without risking getting the pimples again?

Much obliged...

Why not try to heal your pimps first? There is nothing better than "Clearasil" for treating zits (use the tinted as it hides them too) - especially if you put it all over your pimps real thick at night before you go to bed (provided you're hopefully single, which you probably are with all the pimps). The next morning they will be healed more than the night before, and so on and so on every night. next thing you know - Wow, no pimples. then shaving won't be a drag. But if you shave over your pimples it will be a drag. Have some tissue handy to blot on your bleeding face.........

Use a good quality razor and change the blade frequently - avoid disposable razors. Use a shaving foam and after shave balm or cream afterwards as oppose to aftershave.
With respect to 'Old Spice' you've got to be kidding - my dad used to use that stuff thirty years ago!!!!

Before shaving, open pores, rinse face in warm water.Remember to keep razor wet when you shave.Afterwards, rinse face in cool water to close pores and then moisturise the area, before using any aftershave.

Do not mess with pimples if you do they could be a serious infection. If you have many pimples go to a good skin doctor. Talk with him and he can help you with antibiotic's for that particular problems. I have the same problem and have seen a skin doctor who helped with antibiotics. Also, stay away from fried foods.
However if you cut a pimple put alcohol on it to keep from infecting yourself.
Good luck to you.

make sure you use a clean fresh razor each time. Make sure it is not a cheap one, use gilette or mack 3 or something, change your after shave, it might not suit your skin type x

Stop using dollar store razors & buy a good one---like Quattro.
Cheap razors cause bumps because they PULL the hair before cutting it. GOOD razors pull, then cut-cut-cut-cut each blade.

And NEVER shave unless you soften skin with a shower or bath first.
