Help me please ..PS2 game related?

I need help loading a PS2 game:

Okay,here is what is happening..I put the game into the PS2 ..close it, press the reset button but it always goes to the screen that shows my memory cards, it does show a "gold" disk also but if I press "enter" on it just comes back to the same screen or goes to the red "please insert a valid ps2 game. This is an actual PS2 game not a copy or anything. ANother thing I noticed that is happening is the the "Analog ligt" goes off on the controller when I push the re-set button......could that be a problem? Any suggestions on what is going on and how to get the game to play?

after a while, the lens through which the laser reads the discs gets dirty, causing disk read error problems, and it is possible that the system cannot read your disk. the only problem with that though, is that you'd see the words saying disc read error or something

the light of the analog controller going off is normal when you reset the system

see if the game works at a friend's house, it might be your ps2. obviously, it could also be the game itself, dirty, scratched, or who knows what

Try flipping the disk around buddy. The shiny part goes on the bottom.
