I was just curious about the British Monarchy and it looks like they could be related. Would anyone know this?

Google it. Short answer, they were distantly second cousins a few times removed prior to marriage. All the ruling houses of Europe are related somehow. That you can quote me on.

ETA:
"On 20 November 1947, Prince Philip married the heiress presumptive to the British throne, The Princess Elizabeth, eldest daughter of George VI and Queen Elizabeth, his third cousin through Queen Victoria and second cousin, once removed through Christian IX of Denmark. The couple married at Westminster Abbey in London with the ceremony recorded and broadcast by the BBC."
Thats from Wikipedia, quote that instead.

They are cousins. One connection is through the wife of King Edward VII,Queen Alexandra. But there are also other connections as well, because all European Family Houses are in some way, related to each other.
Philip is not a commoner,he was born Prince Philip of Greece, but he is really Danish, the Queen Alexandra connection. He briefly gave up his title to become an English citizen,a manouver planned by Lord Mountbatten to make the Prince an even more acceptable match for the then Princess Elizabeth, who restored her husband's title of Prince .But everyone knew he was born a prince and had never really stopped calling him "Prince" Philip.

Queen Elizabeth's husband is Prince Phillip, and his genuine identify is Prince Consort. while the reigning monarch is a guy, he's titled King and his spouse is given the courtesy identify Queen. yet while the reigning monarch is a woman, she is titled Queen and her husband is given the courtesy identify Prince. the reason for that's that interior the heirarchy of royalty, Kings rank past to Queens, and if Philip have been to acquire the identify King, it would advise he replaced into ranked past to Queen Elizabeth. an identical circumstances held genuine for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, her husband. apparently sufficient, the classic Egyptians had an identical situation yet solved it slightly in any different case. while a girl replaced into queen, which includes Nefertiti replaced into, she replaced into stated as a guy and wore a ridicule beard at genuine appearances. This created vast problems while the archaeologists and Egyptologists first began exploring the classic Egyptian civilization, because of the fact an identical guy or woman regarded to be stated as the two a guy and a woman. Later, the reason grew to alter into greater glaring. yet i do no longer think of Queen Elizabeth might seem good donning a beard, so it is basically as easy to call her husband Prince Philip. he's generally obtainable while she makes public appearances, yet does stay interior the history, out of the limelight. He does seem interior the press fairly regularily, while he places his foot in his mouth and makes an 'unregal' assertion.

I'm afraid Laurie is very much mistaken. Prince Philip is not only *not* a commoner by birth, he and Queen Elizabeth are distantly related through Queen Victoria. In addition, he could never have taken the title of king, as he was not in direct line of ascension to the throne of England. That is why his title is 'Prince Consort'. A regent, btw, is someone who temporarily holds the authority of a ruler while the deceased ruler's descendants are still minors.

Wow. The misinformation out here is unbelieveable.

In 1939, Princess Elizabeth, age 12, met her third cousin, Prince Philip of Greece. For her, it was love at first sight.

In 1946, Elizabeth became "secretly" engaged to Prince Philip. In 1947, her engagement was formally announced. He gave up his Greek citizenship, and became a British subject. Her father granted him the title of Duke of Edinburgh. In 1957 Elizabeth granted him the title of Prince of the United Kingdom.

Much of the royalty today is related through Queen Victoria.

More than you wanted to know.

YES, THEY WERE RELATED, THEY WERE 3RD COUSINS.

Prince Phillip's great-great grandmother is Queen Victoria.

Queen Elizabeth's great-great grandmother is Queen Victoria.

So, YES, they were related. ALL the Continental Royals (Royals on the continent of Europe) consider themselves; and call themselves, "cousins."

No they were not related before marriage. Now they are married yes they are . Prince Philip was a commoner before they married that is why he only holds the title of Prince Regent. If he was of royal blood he would, once married to Queen Elizabeth hold the title of King.
