if you are mailing it, yes do that, if you are handing out invitations, dont bother licking it.

It's always best to secure the envelope from side to side so it doesn't become damaged in the handling. I don't know if the envelope police will know if you use spit or water to dampen the glue. Don't use any sort of tape. It takes away from the formality of the invitation.

No. I don't use any further seal unless the item will be mailed.

I'm more likely to use seals on handmade envelopes and I use regular glue or double-stitck tape on them when they are to be mailed.

No, it's considered formal if you put it water instead of spit(which can be found at the post office) or putting tape on it is perfectly fine. Hope this helps :).
