Well my prom's this saturday and i made this silly mistake by trying to make a reservation for an italian restaurant now.. but they're completely booked.

so what my plan now is to make dinner for my prom date but i have no clue what to make (she likes italian & reallly cheesy romantic stuff). so what should i do?

should i go for easy-to-make foods? or should i try to go with something really nice that'll require my utmost attention?

So you goofed and now you are making dinner, no biggie. But there are other restaurants.

If you are going to make dinner, how about spaghetti with a salad. You can use bottled sauce. You can added canned sliced mushrooms and sage for a tang. Cook the spaghetti the morning of the dinner, drain, put it in cold water and store in the frig. While you are enjoying the salad, drop the "cooked" spaghetti in the boiled water for five (5) minutes - that is what restaurants do.

You can buy frozen Texas toast and just put it in the oven.

Just before you serve the dinner, you can either heat the sauce in a pan or just nuke it (with a cover) for a couple of minutes.

Make the salad the morning of the dinner. Make a salad with lettuce, slices of cucumber, small slices of tomato, celery, maybe small pieces of raw cauliflower and broccoli, sliced carrots, NO onions, and crutons.

For the romantic part, have candles on the table and lower the lights. Put in very soft classical music in the background for atmosphere.

Oh, and have her corsage on the table when she sits down!

The easiest Italian dinner I've made that looks special is Baked Mostaciolli. You can prepare it ahead so all you have to do is heat it up and spend all of your attention on her, not the food!

Ingredients: 1lb mild Italian sausage, out of the casing.
2 cans Hunts spaghetti sauce- you pick the flavor
1lb shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup parmesian cheese
1 lb box of mostaciolli

Brown and drain the sausage, chopping it into small pieces as you go. Add the 2 cans of sauce, and you can add spices if you have them ( I add a pinch of dried oregano, a pinch of dried basil and a little black pepper.)
While the sauce simmers on low, cook the noodles as directed on package. Taste them occasionally so you don't over cook them-they shouldn't be mushy but firm.
Drain the noodles.
In a 9x11 lasagna pan (or a cake pan) put a ladle of sauce on the bottom then half the noodles. Ladle on 1/4th of the sauce, sprinkle 1/2 cup of parmesian and 1/2 the mozzarella. Repeat the layer.
You can cover a refrigerate this for a few days if you do it ahead.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and it is yummy!
Serve with caesar salad- you can get it ready made in the produce section of the grocery, the leftover sauce heated up, and warm italian bread which you can get at a bakery.

My 17 year old daughter was able to make this with out a problem.

That sucks. Dinner was included at our prom.

Go with something EASY and impressive. Make pasta!! It's easy and completely effortless. Get some pasta, a good sauce, and they have pre-cooked chunks of chicken for salads and such that you can put in it. Along with a great bag mix of cesar salad that comes with the cheese and dressing. You can't go wrong. Good luck!

awww this is so cute. so you should def. pick something that u know she will like and will make her all happy. it doesnt have to be too fancy because most girls will like anything really. just the thought of you making it for her will be enough. i wish i had a date to cook for me. i know that no matter what you choose to cook it will be a fantastic dinner.
