There will always be people against something, whether it is a place, a person, an object, an idea. Not to mention Starbucks. The logic is that what you like doesnt mean everyone else like it too. Personally i like the atmosphere at Starbucks more than the coffee. The coffee drinks there are not bad.

OKAY the REAL answer!
People are against starbucks because
They tend to start business in places where coffee is well sold by small businesses and then take the businesse out. They have been known to go to the succeesful coffee shops and propose to pay a higher rent to get the spot.
This is an actual marketing strategy.
And agreed with others they are highly overpriced.

When's the last time you stopped into a place like "John's Diner" and had a free cup of coffee just because you were having a rough day? When's the last time you were served by a guy who owns and runs his own coffee house and knows your kids by name?
That's why I hate Starbucks. Because of them, all the little guys lost everything they had.

Because they are a rip off. And they will also open a new store real close to an existing Mom and Pop coffee shop that has been around for years, thus putting them out of business.

Right... The last time I went to a Starbuck's, the gal who took my order stared at me meaningfully until I got the hint; she wanted to see money in the tip box. So I dropped in a quarter and walked out.

I like some of their coffee but its awful pricey - I like my coffee to be coffee also not some sweet milkshake imitation - I'm sitting here drinking some Kona Joe from Hawaii. Friend of mine brought back with him. talk about pricey $20.95 for 8 oz. LOL he left the price tag on AND pointed it out!

Because they take a product that probably costs less than fifty cents to make, including the fancy cup and charge 5-10 dollars for it. It's more of a status symbol than an actual beverage if you ask me. It's for people who buy into fads...like a pink ipod or cellphones that costs twice as much simply because they're pink.

The coffee is fine....for sure.... but the prices are ungodly. It's not that I can't afford it... I can... but 4 bucks for a cup of coffee?
