I had a baby 5 months ago and had my tubes tied (this was my fourth) I am nursing and have had two periods feb-march my last was march 29. Anway about a week ago I had light brown blood and one episode of light pink..I thought I was getting ready to start which would have been about right on track but I never did..I am worried I might be PG..one of my bigs signs was sore boobs but I have them from nursing so I can't really rely on that..Do you think I might just be alittle late because of having a baby and nursing or should I just give in and take a HPT I am scared..I thought I wasn't going to have to worry about getting PG anymore..Advice Please!!

I would imagine that, especially since you only had a baby 5 months ago, your body is still going through hormonal changes. Especially if you just had your tubes tied and if you're still breastfeeding your baby. These are all factors that could contribute to an irregular or lighter period. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but maybe take a test just to be sure? While it's not unheard of for a woman to get pregnant even after her tubes have been tied, I highly doubt that you are. It's more than likely your hormones are off-balance and it's going to take them awhile to get back on track. That may not happen until after you finish breastfeeding.

Best of luck! And congrats on the baby!

I was actually just talking to someone that got her tubes tied in 2006, and is 3 months pregnant! It could be from nursing...but you never know...I would totally take a test. Good luck!

actually, same thing has happened to me- as per my doctor, your chances of getting pregnant are slim to none when you are nursing-you really shouldn't get your period because your body is in pregnancy mode still, while breastfeeding BUT you can get period because sometimes your body and brain are on 2 different pages. Because of all this, your periods may be strong/normal/slow/none. I wouldn't worry, esp. if you have had a tubal. Funny-its as if i wrote this question a month ago...i know how you feel, i spent like $30 on multiple HPT-don't waste your money.

I think that the cost of a pregnancy test is well worth not feeling the panic.

I had a tubal ligation three years ago and every now and then I feel the need to take a test "just in case." It's a little bit irrational, but you can get them pretty inexpensively these days and I think it's worth the peace of mind to be absolutely sure.

I wouldn't worry too much because being postpartum AND breastfeeding will both affect your cycle in unpredictable ways. That means you might have some irregular shedding and spotting from time to time, and that it will be some time before your periods are regular again.

But even in the rare possibility that you are pregnant, please don't freak out! It's just a baby and you've done this before. It will be ok.

Well, the doctor should have told you that there is a chance that you could get pregnant, depending when you first resumed your sex life.
It could be change of weather that is making your period come late, the nursing may throw it out of whack.
Depending on how late you are, wait about a couple of days after when you are supposed to come on.

Tubals CAN fail when they haven't been both clipped AND "burned" and tied. When I had mine done, although mine were clipped, snipped and burned the doctor advised me to stay on my pills and use condoms for a few months since obviously having my tubes done I didn't WANT anymore children.
