Inherited money. Boarding schools in New England. Classic clothing that never goes out of style. The power to say that "I have class. Eat your heart out! I am a 'cake eater' and proud of it, too. "

Yacht clubs, golf courses, hunt clubs. The social register.

Ivy league colleges, the best universities, summers at the beach. No new cars, but old cars that have class all over them.

Not so much the clothing, but the ***ATTITUDE.*** Clothing from Brooks Brothers, Abercrombie & Fitch, J. Press, Polo Ralph Lauren, Nautica. Sperry Top-Siders and Bass Weejuns. Argyles and plaids. Khaki slacks and girls in kilts [and I mean girls that are not Catholics wearing kilts].

1. prep

Noun (Prep): Comes from identifiying one who goes to a prepratory or "prep" school (typically on the East Coast), or a school with the intent of preparing its students for college (often Ivy League).
Has come to be an label for those who conform to typical teenage behavior, in areas like clothing, school behavior, and sports participation, because preps usually are more ambitious and/or image-conscious than others.
Popular belief is that preps hate nerds/goths/punks/etc, however, generally, preps pay little attention to other "types," and those who hate preps with the most passion are those who were once preps and have recently gone away from their previous behavior, and often people who are posers intent on protecting their alternative-ness.
Prep has become to be nearly synonymous with conformist, to the point where most preps have been in denial of their typecast, and it is seen as an insult in the eyes of many.
Preppy is the adjective form, Preppily is the adverb.

The prep dreamed of going to a school that wasn't too far from where her quarterback boyfriend got a scholarship.
Bob wouldn't talk to Annie; He thought her interest in MTV and popular culture made her too preppy.
Tiffany started dressing very preppily over the summer, shedding her all-black dress code for the latest styles.

a prep literally means a boy or girl who attends a prepratory (private) school. These people (like me) want to enter a great college which they think is harder to do when youre in public school....it also means someone who wears a polo shirt and dresses casually on all bases...popped collar, neatly dresses but nothing fancy...thats what prep is

Well, I don't have any negativity towards preps.
Preps are generally well dressed people, but some take it really far.

Some think (often "emos" or "goths") they're annyoing, hyper and such.

They wear clothing such as Aeropostale (usually what I wear) Hollister, ect.

I'm a nerd.

Preps enjoy being stupid and caring about clothes. Us nerds want to solve great mysteries of the universe and write equations.
