I am talking more particularly about girl-girl marriage. Should girls be allowed to marry each other? Please give reasons in support of your answer.

Yes, of course. For all of the reasons why EVERY couple in love wants to be married. It should have NOTHING to do with religious beliefs because not everyone is a christian. It is WRONG to impose the christian faith and its beliefs on everyone else. This is how things have been done, and so many people followed in it without thinking about whether or not it is fair or just. Church and state are not the same. Marriage is not a religious rite of passage like some people have been brainwashed into believing. Love is love and it exists between man to man, woman to woman. It IS just as natural. Some of you people are stupid if you don't know THAT yet.

Why have government involved in issuing marriage licenses to anyone, gay or straight? A marriage contract should be a private thing, governed by contract law (if governed at all). No one should force, say, the Catholic Church to perform gay marriages, but other organizations (and there'd be many) should be free to do so.

That's the libertarian view, anyway. =)

YES. Gay couples do not have ANY benefits that heterosexual couples do. Anything from survivor's benefits to tax benefits to hospital visitation rights. Why should the gender matter? Gays are not asking for "special rights," they are asking for equal rights. Why should it matter to anyone if a gay person can be legally married to have the same rights? Why would you deprive a person of those things just because of their genetic makeup? Gay couples ALREADY exist, they just don't have any of the rights and benefits. And besides, most of the gay/lesbian relationships I know are way more stable and healthy than the heterosexual ones. You think that the 50+ percent divorce rate is "moral"?

Yes, we have it in Canada, seems natural.

It didn't collapse our country, in fact the worst problem was when 2 married lesbians tried to get a divorce and couldn't, because the divorce act wasn't changed. So they had to wait for it to be changed. Imagine that, being denied divorce, it's crazy ha.

But yeah, it's a legal matter, it's time for you kids in other parts of the world to demand equality under law, instead of the equal-but-seperate stance. We're all part of a bigger sexual spectrum, we need to embrace that, rather than try to segregate.

although i am straight..i see no problem with same sex marriage due to the fact that working people that share a household and pay bills should get the same rights as others. they are people first.

yes.

since marriage has state-recognized/awarded benefits, it is a privilege that must be open fairly to all. no one should be excluded based upon the bigotry of an immoral, unjust "majority."

private organizations and churches should be able to do as they choose, but state matters must be just, fair and equal.

Everyone should be allowed to marry whoever they love, whether they are the same sex or not.

Yes. Love is love, no matter what age, color, or gender a person might be. We are made to love. Why would someone want to keep people from doing that? And really, why do they care? Its not their life.

Yes. If two consenting adults are in love and want to marry, it doesnt hurt anyone. It's civil rights, all people should be treated equally. End of discussion.

I think so. I found the love of my life, who just so happens to be a woman, and if I could I would marry her in a heartbeat.
