Buy a sandbucket and use a permanent marker to write, " Mrs. ________'s vacation kit" on the bucket in cute writing. Place in the bucket a beach towel, a book, a pretty t-cup, or t-shirt, and a gift card. Also, a note or picture from your child to the teacher is awesome-with a card saying what the teacher has meant to your child and family!
I have received several of these and really appreciate it every time!

You're a very thoughtful person. I know if I were a teacher, I would appreciate, but truly get so tired of anything that contained the word "teacher" other than a card or letter. The wonderful idea of a vacation basket is excellent. If you know what your teacher enjoys (besides being around children and helping them learn), such things as hobbies, interests, or pasttimes, something relating to those would certainly be welcome. If your teacher likes animals, possibly a picture of poster of her favorite animal would be appreciated. Edibles are often nice, but keep in mind that some people are allergic to certain foods, or might have diabetes (so cookies would be out) or have religious or ethical food preferences or limitatations; so I wouldn't go that route. For a temporary gift, flowers are always appreciated (again assuming no allergies). Depending on where you live (big city versus small town), a gift certificate from you or some of your classmates to cut the teacher's grass, rake leaves, wash his/her car for the summer would be a terrific gift. Of course the best gift you can give your teacher is to learn, get good grades, behave, and put into place the things you learned. Visiting your teacher next year or even annually to give him/her a chance to see how you're growing up and what sort of person you're becomming would be wonderful. As you get older, volunteer in this teacher's classroom to help younger students with the things you learned in this class would show the teacher how well he/she did their job. I hope some of these ideas are useful to you, and congratulations on having a teacher you want to appreciate.
