I'll be there in July - any restaurant recommendations?
Must be within walking distance of campus and offer lunch and/or dinner. Thanks!

A zillion years ago, I think Daniel Webster was still a student at Dartmouth, I had the good fortune of being a managing editor of twelve newspapers in Vermont and New Hampshire.

1. The Hanover Inn At Dartmouth College -- don't go home without visiting the formal dining room, The Daniel Webster Room. It is old world elegant and definitely worth the time and money. They also have outdoor dining and a cafe, but the Webster Room is the most elegant place to eat between Concord, N.H., and Woodstock, VT.

2, Murphy's On The Green -- I remember this as such a welcoming place. Lots of variety on the medium-priced menu.

3. Simon Pearce Restaurant -- This is a short drive up the interstate to Quechee, VT. Simon Pearce is best known for his handblown glasses. The factory store is incredible and the food at the restaurant is on par with this Irishman's world renown glassware. The Quechee Dam is also a gorgeous spot to stop and take pictures. I know you said within walkin distance, but you simply have to get someone to take you to Quechee and Woodstock.

As I remember more spots, I'll post them. Or, email me if/when you stop accepting answers.

You are soooooooo lucky. This is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
