S-Video is sent as one line for luminance, one line for chrominance (colour) rather than the red green blue for a PC monitor.

So it sounds like you are getting the luminance signal across - the black and white part of the image, but you are not getting the chrominance signal.

My first target would be the S-Video cable, but you say you have tried a second one.

Try a different source for the S-Video connection like a camcorder to cable box.

The other possibility is that you have a physical problem on the video card where the connection for the colour signal is broken.

you can check the pin-out at:

first of all the sound ('reason it really is a normal one) your sound would not come out of your snap shots card, so the television out lead gained't help, you'll favor to plug your sound card into the Audio in on your television; the way in which to do it really is with a particular lead that has a headphone jack on one end, and a couple of composite cables on the different - the headphone jack plugs into your sound card (really of your audio equipment), the phono plugs into your television. so a thoughts as black and white - i'm guessing you're contained in the united kingdom? if so, your card is probable outputting in NTSC (the yank equipment) even as it needs to be chum (the British equipment) maximum cutting-edge TVs will settle for an NTSC signal, yet as yours gained't you ought to set your card to chum. with the Gforce 4 this develop into performed as follows: perfect click laptop > NVidia demonstrate go with nView demonstrate settings click the image of the television click "gadget settings" > go with television format >> chum only i think the technique will be the same (or smiler) on your card.
