I used to use liquid but switched to soft pencil from the Body Shop. It looks much more natural and is far easier to apply.
Have fun!

The very best eyeliner I have ever used is the Mary Kay eyeliner pencil.
The pencils are easy to start with, and after you become a pro, the Mary Kay liquid eyeliner is a good choice.
You never have to sharpen the Mary Kay Eyeliner Pencil! It twists out when you need more. You never have to "put a lighter to it" to make it smooth...it's ALWAYS smooth!
Eyeliner does take practice to perfect the application, be patient!
Never put the eyeliner ON the ledge of your eye. (This will make you get those horrible "black eye boogers!") It's also not good because the eyeliner gets into the eye, and can cause your eyes to water or get irratated.
Always put the liner right underneath the lashes (on the bottom) and if you like a more professional look, you can put the eyeliner above the upper lashes. (Just follow the lash line and use a light "feathering motion" to apply it.) DON'T FORGET TO ALLOW YOURSELF TO BLINK by pulling away for a moment, until you get the hang of it!
By putting the eyeliner UNDER the lashes, your eyes also appear bigger. If you don't believe me, try this.....put the eyeliner ON the ledge of one eye. Put the eyeliner UNDER the lash line on the other eye. Take a look in the mirror...one eye will appear bigger than the other.
After time, you will become a PRO at the application!
I hope this helps!

Well, it depends on the brand- for a pencil try N.Y.C's eyeliner, and for liquid try Mary Kate & Ashley's stuff. Both work equally well, but if you want more control use a pencil.
If you're haveing problems putting it on, pull down slightly below your eye, and drag your pencil along your lash line. Use a q-tip to wipe the extra off. For liquid, don't pull on the skin, just carefully take the brush and go along your lashes in a thin line.
Hope that helps ya!!

I find soft pencils to work best when you first start using eyeliner. Once you get good with that liquid is so much better. I use generic brands, or covergirl.

Trsut me, when I first started out I used liquid. Bad idea, and pencils, they kill your eyes if they arne't sharpened right, now, the eyeliner that twists is a little more expensive, but it works great and it makes it neat look and if you smear it, all you have to do is rub it off. <3krista

it jst depends on if you have a steady hand. if you do then liquid works well but if you have somewhat shaky hands then it makes it harder to keep it straight but almay is a pretty good soft pencil brand. i use eyeshadow for mine though. you just take an angled eyebrow brush and dip it in water then in whatever color eyeshadow you want i find its easier to apply and it lasts longer.

I despise pencil and liquid.
I get the kind that you can twist up, I think what I have it called "SmoothWear"
I love it. Liquid makes your eyes water, and that causes it to get in your eyes and go blind, and pencil tends to go on either too light or too messy.

I use soft stick eyeliner, (Thats not a brand) Because its really soft and it goes on easy.
I usually buy Rimmel London or M-A-C stick eyeliner.
Liquid sucks.

neither use powder or gel they are more natural but can also be very bold and they last longer without smearing. you can try just using a good eyeliner brush and dipping it in water and then into your fav shadow and use that as a liner v. pretty
