My little cousin is 10 years old and I have saw that she and her friends of similar age are already wearing makeup and even shaving their legs. I am kind of worried about this situations in which girls start so small to worry about this issues. What do you think??

I admit, it's fun to play dress up and wear makeup around the house when you're little, but that's a little young to be going out of the house with makeup on... Personally, I'm not going to let my kids where makeup until 8th grade. Feeling self concious about your body even before puberty could stem into alot of issues later in life. (Plus, acting mature too early can make you a target for older guys to take advantage of, and if she's already {if this is the case} peer-pressured into dressing like an adult, she may be pushed into something she's not prepared for.) All the best to both of you.

I didn't start wearing makeup until I was 15, and I think that's a good age to start. At 10, there is absolutely no need for a girl to start shaving her legs or wear makeup. Don't be in a hurry to grow up. Enjoy being a kid as long as possible (take it from this old broad...lol).

Way too young for that sort of thing. A 10yr old is little more than a baby. There are no boundaries for these girls at home, apparently. A 10yr old should be worried about school, friends, playing freely. Makeup and shaving--that's women's stuff. Heck, I didn't worry about that stuff until I was in my mid teens. Makeup didn't even occur to me until I was about seventeen. Aesthetic concerns bind a woman--they shouldn't bind a child.

They are going to be wearing makeup for the next 60 years. Why hurry? Leg shaving works only if you are so hairy you look like an animal. Don't hustle into this stuff. Childhood lasts so short, adulthood so long.

makeup is one thing but shaving legs is another. Make up is a phase a girl goes through and some go through it too soon just to fit in. I was never too fond of makeup, however i started shaving my legs when i was 9! Shaving legs needs to happen when your body is matured enough. Enough that you won't cut yourself and you dont look like a hairy gorilla. But different body types have different hair. for example i have brunette hair and my leg hair came in darker than lets say Bre's leg hair which is blonde, Bre wouldnt need to shave because it isnt noticable, but when she hears that i am shaving, she wants to be cool and shave as well. The makeup is trying to be grown up before she is.

I'm 11 and I wear lip gloss on the weekend. Shaving legs at 10 years old is just sick. What are they going to anyways? Definitelty (I didn't spell that right) little Paris Hiltons.

NO way! Girls that young do not need make-up to enhance their face and it's inappropriate for daily use. My daughter is 12 and is allowed to wear uncolored lip gloss only. Make up makes her look older and there's no need for that.

Shaving is a little different. If a girl has dark hair and it is thick, maybe using Nair would be okay, but shaving can be dangerous.

Why would this child's parents allow her to do something like that?
