Im trying to keep this also as unreligous as possible if you saw my last question. Im not necessarly looking for "soul" answers. But like I just saw a discovery channel episode on the real frankensteins of history, it was actually quite interesting. Each of the scientists agreed that there was some force or energy that couldnt be re-created that made human beings alive. Most of them called it a life force. Again im not looking for religous answers but is there a force or energy that makes living things "alive" that scientists havent discovered yet?

Actually there is a life force that scientists have discovered. The energy which pulses through your body. For instance when a heart monitor on a patient goes bleep it means that this vital energy has stopped and that the person is dead, unless they can be revived. This is the same energy that is measured by putting your fingers to someones throat to conclude if someone is still alive. Other vital energies are the ones that control the lungs and the activity in the brain. Essectially they are all the same energy.

As far as a life force not dealing with the vital energies of the body there is also the "Chi" which is the flow of energy trough the body and this "Chi" is what the ancient "Zen" (I believe it was) began using to develop healing arts and traditions such as acupuncture.

Their is also the "Aura" which is the energy that all living things radiate. It is believed that the aura is changed by different thoughts and emotions and that other people can sub-consciously or consciously(depending on there knowledge of it) read things like aggression, joy, anger, depression off of a person. It is believed that babies, children and some animals like cats have heightened awareness of this phenomenon and will react to you according to the aura they are reading from you. This is the purpose of the dot in the middle of the forehead(third eye) in Hindu and Indian culture. It is an open invatation for others to read their aura, that is the perfect spot to concentrate on when trying to read it where as it will appear more clearly in the unfocused part of your vision and is more profound around the head. This is also the halo like circle that sourounds the head of prophets and saints in biblicle paintings and stained glass. You will notice that this circle is always a light yellow or white indicating spiritual wisdom and peace.

I would say "yes", both for plants and animals. It seems to be electrochemical in nature. How it got there in the first place is the mystery. Myself, I'm not religious as such, but I suspect there is a Higher Power that's done a number of significant things over the span of time to make things go in certain ways. That thinking gives me answers to questions like,
1. "If there was nothing before the Big Bang, who caused it to happen?"
2. "If everything (or just about everything) happens according to the laws of nature, who made the laws?"
3. "If we are descended from earlier primates, who tweaked the DNA to make human beings?"
4. "If Jesus Christ was a man, who impregnated his mother Mary?" (He couldn't have been a clone, and an x-chromosome had to have been added or created somehow.)

''Alive'' is about things that have life that can be perceived within the human sensory levels ! We often bury people who are not dead yet ! The best of medical experts are still not able to define death. This is just because, there is 'life' in all forms. Perception is possible only beyond sensory levels. What you call as energy or life force is found as manifest in all forms.

Ehhhh, that's too sketchy to be scientifically proven or dissproven. If a recall correctly a doctor performed an experiment where he weighed subjects as they died. Apparently, when you die you lose a fraction of an ounce of weight....perhaps that could be considered the persons life force exiting...i personally don't believe it but that's the only real scientific experiment that i can think of relating to your question.

At the instant of death there is a sudden loss of a few ounces of weight which cannot be accounted for. Einstien's theories say mass is energy. This energy would be mass which is attracted to other nearby masses and shows up as weight. This energy is called a soul in the Bible and God says that it returns to him who gave it to you.

why human and not about plants also. I think solar energy from the 'sun' could be the force.

We are all a form of energy... we expend energy, we consume energy and we became energy when we die. Energy is our "life force"... all plants are, animals are, Earth is it, stars are the whole universe are all a form of energy!
