I am one of those mothers who thinks you can't really spoil a baby. They are in your arms for such a short time that it should be enjoyed.
But when my last was that age she was always wanting me too. It was because she wasn't mobile and she thought my hip was the place that she belonged.
I assume that you are giving him toys or sitting him in his chair and he is still not entertained. Try to make your chores a game for him. When you fold laundry put him in his chair and make up silly songs, make faces at him, play peek a boo with the clothes, etc. as you fold the clothes. It takes forever but at least you get something done.
When you want to cook give him some pots, lids, wooden spoon and sit him on the floor and let him make noise.
Blocks, those pull apart rope things (all different shapes), balls and things like that are cheap toys you can pick up anywhere and when they are getting somewhere in his age group they start to enjoy them.

I would suggest, putting him in front of cartoons and keep talking to him so he is reassured that you are nearby. I know it's gonna be tough to hear him cry, but try short periods of time first. I have a 5 month old and think we're headed in the same direction (thanks to dad)..I try to talk to him all the time so he knows I'm in the room....but he's also a sucker for cartoons, so it's easier.....but i agree, it's hard to get anything else done.

With my 9 1/2 month old son, I bring him from room to room when doing my chores...I put him either in his stationary walker or his regular walker and drag him in the kitchen with me while I do dishes!! He loves that fact he`s in the same room with me but he keeps him self occupied with his toys! I do how ever wait until he takes a nap to clean bathrooms and stuff like that..Good Luck!

They are only little for a short time he's yours to hold, spoil? not really you love to hold him too, so what if your house is a mess! he's the most important thing that will ever happen to you, and if you have to let him cry it's not the worst thing in the world, but lay off yourself OK!

I just put mine in a walker that rolls and she just rolled all over the house with me. Eventually, you will need to let him just cry it out. Instead of holding him lay on the floor next to him. Play with his toys with him without holding him. Have fun.

Your just going to have to let him cry so you can get things done in the house or try putting a cartoon on so you can do house cleaning.
