I suggest listening to your teacher carefully and making sure you are taking nood, organized notes.Turn in your work on time and if you find yourself having trouble understanding the lesson ask questions or ask friends in the class to help you.Sometimes a friend can explain things better than a teacher. Also read the lesson in advance and take your own notes as you read. When it comes time for tests give you self plenty of time ot study and if possible make yourself flashcards.I always find that is the best way to study.

1] be prepared for class - sleep enough, eat breakfast, bring all required materials [ including paper and pencil/pen ], and read what you were supposed to.
2] write down everything the teacher/professor puts on the board
3] pay attention! No talking, dozing, eyes wandering around, etc. Answer questions teachers like that ].
4] Do all assignments - even the ones they don't grade - on time and completely.
5] review a little bit of every subject every 1 - 2 days, so you don't have to 'cram' for test/ exams. Cramming doesn't work well because you are sleep deprived, and may do worse on the test.
6] If you are absent, get notes/assignments form another classmate with good notes.
7] pray a lot!

Along with many of the excellent suggestions already posted, I would strongly urge you to find or form a study group. I think this is especially helpful in technical/scientific areas, but can work in any area. Try and find highly motivated students in your class. (Ones getting A's)

During group study, someone takes a turn reading their notes aloud/ explaining a concept. Others add to the discussion based on their notes and confidence in the material. I always felt that by teaching the material to someone else from my notes, helped me retain the information better. If you missed something in class, were absent, or just didn't get it, you have a great group to learn from. Make sure you don't wait until the last minute to have a study group (preferably on a regular basis.) After studying, you can go blow off steam with your new friends/acquaintances!

the best way to get good grades is sleep, exercise, eating healthy, studying, and ofcourse doing your homework. Theres really no other way. i used to have awful grades and now i am a straight A student. Getting in the routine was my problem, another problem of mine was that i loved to party and go out everynight...so i started only going out on weekends ONLY IF MY HOMEWORK WAS DONE! getting good grades doesnt happen 123 snap. it takes work and effort. hope this helps

Pay attention in class, read your textbooks, learn the material, and write things down that sound important. Also, do every assignment you can and turn in all your homework. Homework is a major killer of grades.

In today's world if you are talking about subjects about views or opinions then you must suck it up and don't throw up Argue with the nutty professor who is sprouting the leftist view. They are in a world of their own sad to say the least. And some minions agree with them.
