As the first answer said - the muscles are working harder than usual.

You can try getting a massage to relax the area, you can rub some sort of muscle soothing gel like Ben Gay on it, use a heating pad or one of those disposable heating wraps, you can ask your doctor about getting some physical therapy or you can try acupuncture or acupressure.

You should also eat bananas which are high in potassium. Potassium helps to reduce leg cramps.

Have you asked you doctor or physical therapist? The reason for the crutches is to NOT put all the weight on your other leg. You are not using the crutches correctly.

Have you spoken to your Doctor about this? Seems like an excellent question for you to ask you medical professional.
