I am trying to remove old carpet from fibre glass- so I can replace it... And was wondering how it is easily removed. -Jet washing did not work well...

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thankyou.

T2 Thinners, avaliable from the local spray painter/hardware

lift the carpet...at the highest point....poure some thinners on to the exposed fiber glass..so it runs down where the glue is....peel away carpet as the glue softens..when its removed wipe up excces thinners...& then wash with water...

Tricky one that. Any solvent that will dissolve the glue will also dissolve the adhesive holding the fibre glass together.

Is it an animal based glue? The smell usually gives that away, sort of a fishy smell, like Copydex. I think the best bet is probably a mechanical solution, i.e. scraping it off with a fine blade. You can get special tools to scrape glass clean of glue that might work.

the trick to removing anytype of glue or chewing gum type substanceis to re soften it so that it can be wiped off...to do this you need a solvent so anything along the lines of parafin oil cheap from your local hardware store or petrol will do the trick might not be strong enough to soften the whole lot in one go you might need to soften the top layer then wipe that of then soften the next layer and wipe off so on so forth....not to sure how parafin would react with fibreglass so test a small spot first

Home Depot sells a chemical that desolve glues. I do not remember what it is called, but it works well. Adhesive remover.

Go to a drugstore and get some rubbing alcohol. Get the wintergreen. The smell doesn't knock your socks off like the clear stuff.
