It has almost nothing to do with distance, because I have shipped books 3,000 miles away, and 20 miles away, and either way it takes at least ten days.

On the other hand, if I send something 20 miles away by way of "first class" mail, it is usually at it's location within 24 hours. Why would it take ten days just to send a book across town?

One reason is that even if you live across the street from the mailings destination ~~~ instead of it just going to your local post office to be processed it must go through the MAIN post office first and then back to your local one. Silly huh?!?!

It is kinda like anything..some things are depending on weather, truck failure, etc. I guess when people send things or are waiting to receive things it all depends. It seems the more anixous you are for something it appears to take longer. Alda
