Yes a culture of consumpution.

We are taught to believe we should work our lives away to purchase **** we don't need, that is only one part of our culture.

Yes; it's actually many cultures.

a culture is a shared way of doing things or thinking about things. there is national culture, regional cultures, generational cultures, subcultures, and ethnic cultures, among others.
