I am in a relationship where I need to do this, and I'm not sure what to get in order to not put people off wherever I go.

why not? is it socially acceptable in your own "society"? If you're okay about it - go for it. You're what matters.

I know of some who have worn dog collars in public. I've seen a woman with a man on a leash, but a common joke that caused people to laugh from what I'd heard at various clumps of people I saw the couple pass--someone always commented after they passed, "A man on a leash is sad, but there would be a riot if a woman was in a man's tow!"

They are right. You can wear your collar in many places without much fuss, but if you are a woman and a man has you on his leash--he better watch out.

In some places it's not acceptable for women to wear pants. In others nudity and visible tattoos are acceptable. It depends on where you're at. Also, most people you meet on the street don't know about that scene, so you should be fine unless it says something like "Property of ____."

A guy in my pre-calculus class is "collared" as well in a BDSM relationship, and he wears his everyday. Doesn't bother ME in the least. But then again, I'm not the "ordinary" kind of person. I am into BDSM and I'm "diversity friendly", being a transsexual myself. I really can't speak for the more "vanilla" people out there.

Well you could wear something else under your clothes, like a corset, you'd feel it more than a collar anyways.

But if you do this in the city, I doubt most people will even bat an eye.

I think the better question would be why you would need to wear this. What kind of relationship are you in? It doesn't sound like a very healthy.

i would think as long as you were properly dressed, that it wouldn't be a problem. of course your going to get a raised eyebrow or two. so expect that. once, i was skiing at loon mountain in new Hampshire. my friends and i were wrestling in the snow near the lift and having good clean fun. a man walked up to us and said " this is a family resort, why don't you conduct your selves accordingly?" none of responded to him. we went about our business. we weren't rude, obscene, or disrespect full. we were just having fun. but yet, this man found it offensive. so in answer to your question. i feel as long as your not obscene, rude or crude. i see nothing wrong with it. but others might. so be aware. good luck and have fun.

You are allowed to wear whatever you want, if anyone says anything I'm almost completely sure they don't or shouldn't matter to you.

And if anything more than saying (as in physically in harmful ways for any reason) happens: lawsuit.

make it small and cute not one of those posture collars with a lock or anything like that. Rock kind of a punk look and you will be fine.

Keep it small. But fetish wear is quite popular...so a black leather choker with little studs shouldn't be a problem...

;)
