I live in Queens, NY, and I've noticed at least three neighborhood Hallmark stores closing in the last year or so: two in Corona, one in Flushing.(Actually, one of the Corona ones may have closed about three years ago.)

Is this happening where you live, too?

Yes. I think the reason they are disappearing is because of the competition. Almost every supermarket and drugstore sells cards. Most drug stores sell gift items also. The Internet has sites where you can pick out cards and send them via e mail with a reminder for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions.

Yes, it is, though not at quite the same rate. I live in Savannah, GA, and at least 2 have closed in the past 2 years.
