I'm 39 weeks pregnant and my baby is due on sunday. Today we whent to the doctor and found out that our daughter decided to turn over on her side , so she is not head down anymore. My doctor said that I could go in to the hospital and they can try to turn her over......which I don't want to do because I'm scared something might go wrong. Than she said I could wait and see if she moves back to the head down possition, or have a c- section. I told her that I will just do a c-section. Now I'm not sure if that is the best idea. PLEASE Help!!! I don't really wnat to make the wrong choice.

my lil girl did the same thing. i went in and had a c section. dont let them try to turn her. it could kill the baby. the umbilical cord can wrap around the neck if they tried to turn her. i recovered from my c section in 6 weeks. if u have a good doc then dont worry it'll all go smoothly. congrats on havein a lil girl. hope everything goes great.

First of all, C-Section may sound easy (they are), but remember that it is considered MAJOR surgery. That's because they cut thru many nerves that may never heal again. You also have a long recovery time. With my own C-Section, just going to the bathroom and the kitchen from the couch made my feet swell up like Shrek (really). I also scared myself when I turned and tried to lift myself up and felt searing hot pain from the C-Section cut. That part that opened is a little wider on the scar than at other parts. The C-Section itself wasn't that big of a deal. I would recommend trying to have a vaginal birth to see she will go head down, maybe you could do some upsidedown back stretches on the couch to encourage her to turn. :) It's not the surgery itself that is a big issue, but the recovery is. A vaginal birth you can leave the same day after giving birth and your recovery is a lot faster. C-Sections leave a scar that will never go away, six weeks of recovery besides being tired from taking care of a newborn, and the possibility of not being able to lose the weight in that area w/out another surgery down the road. All you need to do is let the doctor know that you want to wait to see if she will turn, but that you want to be prepared in case for a C-Section. By the way, my daughter was nine days late from her due date.

A C-section is a major, invasive surgey that will take much longer to recover from. I had a breech baby that I turned myself. Try spending more time standing up so that gravity can help the baby get back into the proper position. You can also try getting a cold pack, or even some frozen peas. Locate the head, and then feel for the bottom. While standing, place your hand under where the bottom and legs are and put the ice pack on top of where the head is. The cold will make the baby uncomfortable, and she will move to avoid it. If she is sideways it will be easier to turn than a full breech.

This is kind of a personal decision and a hard one to make for anyone. I would say that trying to turn her probably wouldn't hurt anything. She may even decide to turn back down. There's still time for her to do some wiggling around. Before you go in and definately do a C-section, get them to check her position. I have had three c-sections and I came through them just fine. There is no such thing as a wrong choice. As long as you and your baby are fine, any choice can be the right one.

Wait a little bit, there are somethings you can do to help your baby move. Ask the doctor, I think they told me to just rub in the direction u want the baby to go. If the doctors move the baby they take precations, they never force the baby because of the risk. However, they said it does hurt. Wait until you tried the other alternative, before a c-section, plus look up all information on c-sections. That way no matter what you feel comfortable in what you are doing.

Why wouldn't you want to try to turn the baby??? The External Cephalic Breech Version is a relatively safe procedure...yes, it sometimes hurts a bit, yes there are risks...but for the most part...its safe (I've assisted on many) and depending on the baby's positioning, it might be an easy turn?

I would not opt for a c-section just yet...first I'd try the version, then if that doesn't work I'd think about the c-section...

I wouldn't just opt for major surgery right off the bat...but then again, thats just me.

Hi,

If they can move the baby then i would suggest you do it, as long as they can guarantee that they will not hurt your baby.

If you have a c-section which i had for my first and now have to have another one for my 2nd, its hard on you. It is a major operation and there can be complications.

Its better not to be cut open if you dont have to be. C-sections take time to heal and you will always have a scar also. It fades but you can still see it.

I would take the try and move baby option first. If it does not work then c-section.

All the best with your decision.

I would wait till your due date and if baby isn't head down by then your going to have to have a c-section you don't want to be pushing a breach baby out. Hate to tell you this that baby is coming out one way or another. I'm 39 weeks too and my cervix ain't even opend and i have scar tissues so if my baby can't break through i'll have to have a c-section

i had a c-section and i will tell you i would rather give birth to 100 babies vaginally than have another one. BUT everyone heals differently, so you could be the type who doesn't hurt that bad. letting them try and turn her could do more damage and still result in her not turning. I've heard its very painful as well. if you do decide in a c-section, be sure to stock up on pain medicine, have help on hand b/c you will need it, and do not stress yourself! i pushed the limits b/c i had no help and my incision came open. good luck and congrats on the baby!

I would wait and see if she turns. C-sections are not easy. Recovery is about 6 weeks min. and the healing is slow. I would have loved to been able to deliver naturally and back on my feet in a week or so. C-section may not be avoidable, but I would really try anything to avoid it.
