Ah, yes, the Paul is Dead conspiracy.
Back in 1969, an American radio jockey received a call from a man who announced that Paul McCartney was dead and that clues in Beatles songs and album sleeves were evidence.
The supposed "clues" stated that Paul was badly disfigured in a car crash at five o'clock on November 9, 1966, after he stormed out of the studio after a fight with the other Beatles and was replaced by a winner of a Canadian lookalike contest named William Campbell, aka Billy Shears.
It is not clue, though some believe it is.
If you search for "Paul McCartney is Dead conspiracy" there are several websites that have pictures, sound clips and lyrics that were thought to be "clues." It was either a coincidence, the most likely, or there was an off-chance the Beatles planned it.

In approx.1970 an arbor under ground news paper writer published a theory known as "The Paul is dead now conspiracy". There is a mumbly passage on the White Album which when played backwards sound like John saying "Paul is dead now" There are numerous other reference in other Beatles songs including Ringo's line "you were in a car crash and you lost your hair..." sighted as evidence. There was a mysterious Paul McCartney look a like contest and voice prints were done from early McCartney to later McCartney and they did not match. Draw your own conclusions as with most if not all conspiracy the truth is covered up. (That is what conspiracy is)

No, it isn't true. Some DJ told his listeners that Paul McCartney had died and was replaced by look-alike William Campbell. He thought Paul died because of the various "clues" planted in the Beatles songs, movies, and albums. This is a great site for "Paul is Dead":

Sorry. No one could have switched the cute, innocent, boyish-faced Paul McCartney without my noticing.
