Call a nurse line. They will tell you what to do. Good luck.

Trust me tylenol does not really help it just pretty much prevents his fever. He will be like this all day and probally tomorrow. I would not take him to the ER unless he is running a high fever. Nausea, diarrea or a rash. Trust me I know it is a pain. I have a 2 year old and it doent get any better. Try giving him a cool bath and if that doesnt work put him in bed and let him cry. No crying will not kill your baby. It will give you some time to cool down also. It is probally not the pain that is making him cry it is the shot making him not feel good. I hope that this helps.

Some of these people on here really KILL ME. You came here to ask a legitamite question and you get the third degree. To whoever made a smart comment about your baby driving you nuts....guess what crying babies get under your skin. You can only listen to it for so long before it starts to get to you! Of course you are going to go a little crazy. You are trying to help your baby and thats all that matters. I swear i hate some of the jerks in here! Like one of them has never made a mistake in forgetting to give their babies tylenol before their shots....haha. Well I personally forgot to give my 6 month old twins tylenol before their shots yesterday and they had it afterwards and were fine. I had whiney crying babies all day yesterday (combo of shots and teething) I feel your pain!!! Walk around holding him for a while and if he doesnt calm down put him in his crib for a while while you call the doctors office. (You need a tiny break from screaming so you dont lose your cool) He is probably just fine...just needs extra mommy love.

Hello Vicky,
If it was me this is what I personally do
First asses the different between crying because of the painfully event, nerves or really in need of medical attention.
(Remember you being upset, acting upon it will only make baby worsen in hurt feeling!)
Please calm down, relax (I know hard to do, as I cried more than my babies when they received their shots. LOL)
Make sure baby has the pain medicine, warm up some sleeper, receiving blanket. Dress baby nicely in warm sleepers, wrapped blanket tightly.
(warm bottle of milk. if needed)
Then just comfort baby, maybe by rocking, singing.
Just enough to let them know mommy is here, all is OK and until eye lids sink closed.
Lay down with child if have to, close by, so they see, hear their mommy.
But if there still carries on for more then about 3 hours, and nothing works, then only then would I use a back up plan. Then taking baby to doctors (If open) Not to hospital just yet as the wait could mean more heartache. Who knows the waiting time.
A mother knows best, so never feel ashamed if have to just go to hospital! Better safe than sorry. It's easier for us to tell you what to do as we aren't in your home, nor do we know your child better then the parent!
Good luck dear, hope all goes well for you two.

i would take him to the doctor, i havent always given tylenol before hand (forgot too once or twice, it happens) but he shouldnt be in a lot of pain from a shot, especially the 6 month shot.
Tylenol is recommend tfor the possible fever, not so much for pain as there shouldnt be much of that, so if you feel he is pain, i would get off here and seek medical advice.

I would call your doctor or the place you took him and ask just to be sure. Since he is 6months Im assuming hes had shots before. Did he ever react this way? Maybe hes having an alergic reaction? I would deffinatly ask..it never hurts. You can always distract him until his medicine kicks in, ice cream, a favorite toy, take him for a walk, let him play in the grass...something he doesnt see everyday might help?? poor baby

shots make babies cranky. you can expect your baby to be fussy the day he gets his shots. the only thing you have to worry about is if he runs a fever. shots sometimes and usually do cause fevers. and if he does run a fever then i'd try the tylenol. if his fever gets too high, like 100 or above, then i'd call the child's doc. other than that, just be patient with him. he's in agony right now. when my son gets his shots and he's fussy, i play with him more, feed him his favorite food, give him his favorite toys and i just hold him and rock him and sing to him

He shouldn't be sceaming still from his shots. My babies cried while getting the needle and maybe grizzled a bit for a while after, whether I gave them medication before or after them but they never screamed all day. Maybe he is reacting to something. If he doesn't look like stopping and isn't normally like this, I would definately take him back or to the ER. Best of luck. I really hope he is ok.

Poor Babe!! He is probably miserable! Have you tried giving him a warm, soothing bath? Trust me, this works every time. He probably feels awful after the shots. This will take a while to pass, because the medicine was not given to him before the pain started, but that's okay--bet you won't do that again--wink, wink!! Try the warm soothing bath! If that doesn't work, then you have to call the nurse.

he could just be tired and crotchety because of the experience if he doesn't have a fever i would just let him ride it out and try to stay calm yourself as he may be picking up on your tension, i never gave my son anything before his shots and he always got like this but not sick just disgruntled, try having a bath with him to calm you both down and distract him from his annoyance (just the normal temp bath you would give him if he has no fever) babies will drive you nuts sometimes but look at it from their point of view.

Try giving him a warm bath. The warm water might ease up any muscle pain as a result of the injections. It may help to relax and calm him down.
