By changing the Geneva Convention no one in this administration could be charged for war crimes no matter how well they proved that the American people were deceived and this war was unjustified. The main reason McCain is still alive from being a war prisoner was because of the Geneva Convention. When McCain conceeded to Bush on this issue[he was the hold-out] on the change passing, my husband which is a Vietanam War Veteran had the first flasback of the warsince 6 years ago. As I found him among broken glass and tables and bleeding and fighting the enemy [CHARLIE] I first thought I was going to have him sent to the hospital, thank God he came out of it in a day, notonly should you know what changed in the Geneva Convention and why you should know the impact that it has had on the men and women who have served in this wars.

Please at least research the Geneva Convention. It pertains to Uniformed Military only !!!!! Now, as Terrorists, and Guerilla fighters, not in uniform, they are classified as SPIES by the same GENEVA CONVENTION you quote. And in the Geveva Convention it clearly spells out that spies may be terminated immediatly.
Now I know I will get hate and thumbs down here. But I am not giving an opinion nor do I justfy anything, I am just quoting the Document you quoted, which says the complete opposite and says the so called Neo-Cons are not only abiding by the tenets, but show great restraint by not immediatly executing spies as other countries do, and are granted by the Geneva Convention...
Please, just look it up...

The Geneva Conventions cannot be disregarded in this case because they apply only to uniformed military prisoners. Last I heard, terrorists aren't uniformed. They're just terrorists.

You are wrong. The Geneva conventions were set up for nations at war. Enemy combatants, wearing uniforms, and fighting for a country have to be treated in a certain way. The US is not at war with any country. The Geneva Conventions do not apply to terrorists, in civilian clothes, picked up on a battlefield. Have you read and studied the GC? I think not.

Are you referring to the mercenaries in Gitmo?
I wasn't aware that mercenaries were covered by the Geneva Conventions.
Where was the international outrage when Iran recently violated the GC? Remember that little mess with the Brits? Yet no outrage. Why is it that people insist we're no better than any other country, but then hold us to a higher standard of conduct?

Well, my goodness. I can't imagine the Bush White house accepting any kind of restrictions that came from of all places, Switzerland.
I'm sure it's unfathomable to the ultra right that George and Karl be held to any international code of honor.

Well, if you actually read the documents that you're citing, you'll find that we have been following them. In fact, we've gone well beyond their provisions in our handling of the guests at Gitmo.
Stop listening to the talking heads and do your own research.
