Maybe your parents don't think you are giving it your best effort.

How old are you? I was gifted and advanced, too, and had so much homework to do every night. It was crazy! (That was in high school.) I swear I had 2-4 hours every night. That is too much. I will tell you that my first year of college was way easier than my Senior year of high school. They do put a lot of pressure on the gifted and talented kids, because they want to prepare you for college.

If you are honestly doing your best, and getting close to straight A's, with some B's, your parents should be proud of you. But, if you think there is any room for improvement, go for it! It can only help YOU in the long run. You will be able to get into a better school, and that, my friend, makes all the difference in the rest of your life.

In todays world its important to get the best marks you can at school, because it will normally have a huge impact on the rest of your life. Because you are young you probably cant see things in proper perspective (big picture), but your parents can, because they have real world experience. No matter if a person is gifted in an area or not, the most any person can do is work hard to fulfill their potential. That comes down to a choice inside you to use your free will to work. It can be hard to do that as many interruptions and temptations come along to pull you off course. I suggest that you 'be responsible' for reaching your potential - that is be like the captain of a ship steering it (using your free will) through storm (temptation and interruptions) to port (your goal).

If you are in advanced classes aren't the grades on a different scale? If you get a B isn't it really like an A? Besides, there is more to life than grades. Don't stop doing your best, but giving up weekends and time with your friends to get that extra point might just drive you insane.

Nopey. I`m I was in the gifted class in 4th and 5th grade and now I`m in the Pre-AP class. And I can tell you there are people in my class I`m amazed made it to as far as the class I`m in. Tell your parents to think if they were you, how would they feel. Say aren`t you pressured enough already? How come straight A`s are more important then you yourself? As long as it`s a passing grade your parents should be proud no pressuring you because it`s hard enough growing up.

My son too has great grades, and in advanced classes. He sometimes stresses out because it is hard, but he knows, if he works hard now, gets good grades, he will be eligible for scholarships and a brighter future. The better you are, the better off you'll be someday. They just want the best for you. Just keep doing your best, seek help from teachers if you feel your falling behind. Just think "money". You like nice things? Best of luck!

So if you're gifted... maybe you just aren't gifted enough to make A+s? Heck, as long as you're actually giving it your best shot, they can't expect any more. If you aren't, then they have the right to expect your best.

Being gifted doesn't guarantee a passing grade or anything, some 140 IQ people have zero motivation to do homework. It happens.

No just tell them how you feel. Im a straight A student right now. A few years ago when I was in the 5th grade I made a "B" in math and my mom flipped. In 6ht grade I made a 89(B) in language because I was slacking and now my avg is a 97 (A) Because my mom stop pressuring me so much and she understands how I feel.

It happens to everybody, I used to be the most brilliant kid ever...High school ****** me over...

All you think is popularity, money, friends, what to wear, will I fail, what am I going to do this weekend...

I never repeated a year. But this year I am getting dangerously close. I am studying like never before...I never studied...I even skipped a grade because I had 100% and 102% everywhere. but now...whoa...concentration is hard as ****!!! Especially with a bad teacher...
