It doesn't have to have a buffalo on the back to be valuable. There's one up for bid on ebay right now (a 1934 wheat penny in perfect condition) and the minimum bid is $75.00 !!!
I had dozens of pennies my dad had collected and seeing this on ebay I think I was severely cheated by the person I sold them to. I know my dad collected nice coins and I just didnt have the knowledge at the time I sold them and I'm sure I got cheated (or rather my father was cheated, it was he who put in the long hours searching and collecting!!!). Get a professional to price it for you. But 1st go get a case to put it in (made of cardboard & clear plastic), staple the coin inside it b4 you hand to anyone to examine it as with a bare coin in hand they can pull a "SWITCH" !!! iT HAPPENED TO ME WITH A 1920 DIME! tHE DEALER SWITCHED COINS ON ME WHEN HE WALKED AWAY TO OTHER SIDE OF COUNTER AND i WAS OUT $1,600.00 !!! Label the case with YOUR NAME AND TYPE OF COIN (exactly), then get it appraised! And dont let them leave the room with it -- dont let it out of your site -- some dealer are stealers !!!!!

The 1934 cent had a mintage of 219,080,000 so it is not scarce. The 1927 had a mintage of 144,440,000 and it is not scarce either. They can be found in most dealers wheat cent boxes for from .02 to .05 each in circulated grades. Not all coin that are some what old have a high value. All are historic in their own way. 1927 was just before the great depression and actually could buy something on it's own. Things in the U.S. as well as the world were not so hot in 1934. You had that Hitler guy starting to cause trouble, as the depression kept on going. Those 2 cents might have some story to tell to bad they could not talk.

At the bank, it is worth $0.01. To a coin collector, I would say $1 to $6. A good place to check would be Ebay.

If you go to a coin shop to buy one probably about 5 dollars. But - should you go into the same shop to sell one - then it is worth about one cent. Coins are just not worth much money unless you are a buyer who just has to have that particular one.

Does it has a Buffalo picture of the back of the penny? If it does, wow you are so lucky!!!!!! But, if it does not have a Buffalo, then I really don't know about that. Good luck.
