That will all depend....how old is he/she? How early was the baby?

I had a preemie, and she only ate around 10ml a feeding the first few days. So, I'm not sure how old your preemie is. But this is something that a doctor should be helping you out with. Feed your preemie as much as he or she will eat, and as often as he or she will eat.

Can you hire a lactation consultant to help you? Are you breastfeeding, or pumping your milk and feeding in a tube or bottle? That's what he had to do for the first 6 weeks. After that, she was finally able to latch on and breastfeed.

I had to keep a daily log of every time I fed her and how much she ate, and show it to the doctor. They monitored her weight gain very closely.

Then, I would feed her about once an hour during the day, and about once every 2-3 hours at night.
