My quiestion is regarding the debate regarding lowering the drinking age to 18....I like how this comedian put it....Many people argue "If an 18 year old is regarded as an adult in all other aspects...and they can go to war and die for thier country then, why cant they have a beer??......Well youve got it all wrong...If an 18 year old girl can star in a porno and get her face cu**ed all over by a 40 yr old man...then why cant she be old enough to have a beer???...I think that is a valid point....Dont you??

To Jay=Your not getting the point...Why can the government consider 18 yr olds an adult selectivly...meaning when they want to consider them an adult they do...like for instance they can put themselves in debt with a credit card...

The drinking age has nothing to do with being considered an adult. It is about the considered maturity level. A person who is 30 can not be elected to president. That person is considered an adult by all means of the law, but the law required that that person have more experience in life to do what is required.
With drinking it is the same thing. It is not that an 18 is not considered an adult it is about life experience that the government wants that person to have. An 18 can enter a legal contract, leave school, drive, and hold a job without parental consent. By all legal matters that is adult things.

Not really.
People mature in different areas at different rates. That's why the driving age and the voting age and the drinking age are all different. Drinking age has no relevance to when a person can do other things. It only has to do with the point of maturity when most people are able to drink responsibly. From the statistics on DRINKING, a good argument can be made for raising the drinking age to 25 based on the huge number of alcohol related problems involving people under that age.

If you are wanting something serious I would stay away from the 18 yr. old. You are at slightly different stages in life and if you are thinking about a long-term relationship she might not be one to start one with. She has at least a few more years before she will start thinking that way. Date her, have fun with her but just dont be her "boyfriend". As for the "on break gf" I would tell her you want to see other people and that you are tired of walking on egg shells.

i have said that for years that if 18 is legally and adult, them give em a beer. but personally, i think they should raise the age of being an adult to 21, just my opinion.

No. Teens cannot handle booze. Their brains are still developing. Most people are not completely wired until age 21 to 25.

Maybe, but lowering the drinking age would increase drunk driving (by getting more drinkers out statistically).
