If the bowlers are not allowed to put a tape around the finger to get a better grip on the ball when you are bowling because it’s illegal! Isn’t it illegal to put a squash ball under the glove to get a better grip on the bat when you are batting ??? ICC please explain!

Though it is couple of days now since the use of squash ball by Adam Gilchrist has been revealed, there has been no
complaint raised by either cricket authorities of Sri Lanka or any other country. If using the squash ball was illegal, there would have been lot of complaints to ICC by now.

pls dun ask this question again
ive seen this a number of times in differnet forms
see the final is over nthe winners r decided yask such questions n spoil the fun?
u mite b a gfr8 lankan supprtoter but u cant criticise the team which won fairly
then dere will b lots of oder things dat can b pointed out from the lankna side
no none is doing it
real sportsmanship lies in Jayawardane n i appreciate him 4 dat
y do the other lankans lack dat?
the ICC didnt blame him or fine him
dey know the rules better
besides if it was illegel he need not have shown it ot the world n made irt public
so wid common sense u shd understand dat the ball was fine
lets accept the fact dat the aussies r the most deserving team

No not at all
It gives batsman undue advantage by relaxing the impact of the moving ball on the bat by absorbing the energy of impact on to the rubber ball and when pushing forward same energy is released giving extra push to the ball.
Just like small kids shoot them selves up on to sky by jumping on to a trampoline
Further it is completely against the laws governing the cricket

it is illegal by cricket law....
Law 3 (6) (c) (i) specifically prohibits a player from using equipment other than that permitted. And nowhere in cricket’s 42 laws is there a mention of a squash ball as a permitted item.
some s-------s say if it illegal why srilankan cricket board never lodged acomplaint.......
what the heck.....
would icc support that
this so called immparcia foru guys never even allow to raise a suspition about Gilchrist
this cercumstance might have earged Lanka Cricket bord not to complain
the result is the same
like bucknor
Dhar, Rudicortson
and socalled no 1 australian umpire
everybody worship to australia
all are bribed by Australia
all are submissive to australia
what a pity
um... they expect sri lanakn supporters to worship
them (Oz)too
in your dreams,,,,,

He gave a catch in spite of having a squash ball. You spilled it and lamenting about everything.
Be proud of your magnanimous captain and the SriLankans' gallant fight. After all you have lost only to a deserving team.

I feel so. B'coz now u can't do anything about it. It is not that the whole team did it just Gilchrist. U can't say anything now. Its too late.

I have no idea........Well I think it is not decided yet whether it was legal or illegal.....some laws (as learned from some answers) prove it illegal....but there is no clear indication..I think ICC should take care of it and should clearify where it stands!

if a light spring detected in jayasurya's bat during 1996 world cup was illegal ,then the squash ball in gilly's hand deserves equal attention.but in lots of areas ,rules are deviated into two routes ,one for whites and the other for non whites.this is not to raise any idea of racism among u people, from my part, but its a fact which we observe in cricket nowadays.
an act of frustration shown to an umpire's decision, was regarded as an act of dissent and simultaneously an act of disappointment ,when shown by sachin and damien fleming(australia) respectively.this is only one example where asians are tortured by the icc.
gillys case is another example
