My 8th grade class is doing a play and we need advice on how to write a good script. Setting, characters, and story all need to be included and it's all based upon a book. So if you have any advice on how we should go at writing the script please tell. Thanks!

The key to adapting a book to a play is to remember that a play is driven by dialogue. The setting can simply be described and you can leave it up to the audience's imagination, or you can go to a full set design. The development of the characters is primarily the responsibility of the director working with the actors.

But the story itself is driven by dialogue.

Did you get permision to write a script from the book? Write a letter to the publisher of the book before writing a script, otherwise you may be in violation of copyright infringement, which is a serious matter and you can get sued.
